After almost 50 years of service, the huge bespoke teak casement windows needed substantial maintenance. The City of London appointed TRC to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment programme.
Having erected full scaffolding, and using specialist lifting equipment, we removed the windows, which ranged from two to three metres wide.
Timberwork was repaired, then stripped and French polished on internal and external sides. The windows were reglazed with solar control glass, and the secondary glazing was refurbished. Hinge mechanisms were overhauled, and ironmongery and blinds were replaced.
The work was completed in two 10-week phases, to coincide with summer holidays. Despite the tight timescale, the project was finished on time and on budget.
