The project
TRC Contracts has successfully completed Phase 1 of the window restoration project for the Grade 2 listed Army House at Bradfield College. As part of the historic institution’s comprehensive three-year refurbishment programme, TRC’s expert team focused on restoring the building’s casement windows. The scope of work encompassed installing draught proofing, replacing glass, conducting necessary timber repairs, and updating ironmongery. This meticulous restoration demonstrates TRC’s commitment to preserving architectural heritage while enhancing the functionality of historic buildings in educational settings.
TRC Contracts’ expertise in heritage window restoration was fully utilised in the Bradfield College project. Our specialised knowledge in heritage casement windows ensured that the Army House’s original architectural character was preserved while improving functionality. TRC’s comprehensive draught proofing system was implemented to enhance energy efficiency and comfort. The team also carried out precise sash window glass replacement, using materials that maintain historical authenticity while offering improved insulation.
Skilled craftsmen performed necessary timber repairs, addressing decay and structural issues. Finally, TRC updated the windows’ ironmongery, carefully selecting and installing period-appropriate fittings that blend seamlessly with the building’s heritage while ensuring smooth operation. This holistic approach demonstrates TRC’s commitment to delivering high-quality, historically sensitive restorations.
