The Liverpool City Region Planned Window Replacement and Refurbishment programme aims to improve energy efficiency in eligible non-gas central heating homes across the Liverpool City Region, and is available to owners of occupied homes and private rented properties. Benefits of the programme include reduced energy bills for residents, increased comfort and warmth in homes, and reduced carbon emissions. By March 2025, it’s estimated that up to 500 homes will benefit from energy efficiency upgrades.
The project
TRC were appointed by the Riverside Housing Group to restore the windows to over 200 houses in the Liverpool City Region. The project consisted mainly of sash window restoration, while strict Health and Safety measures were adhered to in order to protect the occupied homes and their residents.
Refurbishment of over 200 historic properties
TRC acted as a main contractor, undertaking the external refurbishment of over 200 occupied listed street properties. Works included timber window refurbishment, timber window replacement, brick repairs, painting and scaffolding.
Our cost-effective alternative to replacing windows involved installing a draught proofing system and upgrading the single float glass with Slimlite insulated glass units for improved acoustic and thermal performance.
Throughout the project, TRC liaised with local architects as well as the Liverpool City Council’s planning department and conservation officers. Our extensive knowledge of historic buildings was of great benefit in gaining confidence and obtaining the necessary planning permission.
